Use this article when you want to know the wireless range of a neoFlo, or when a neoFlo is struggling to communicate because of range or signal issues.
This article covers situations where:
- What is the range of the neoFlo?
- How far can a neoFlo be from the neoHub?
- How far can a neoFlo be from the RF-Switch?
- My neoFlo is out of range.
- My neoFlo has poor signal.
- My neoFlo will not pair because it is too far away.
- Can I boost the neoFlo signal?
- Which neoPlug do I need to extend the neoFlo range?
This article does not cover:
- Setting up a neoFlo for the first time.
- General neoHub Wi-Fi or internet connection problems.
- A red LINK light on the neoHub.
- General thermostat range or pairing problems.
Part 1 - neoFlo Wireless Range
The neoFlo has a wireless range of up to 70 metres and communicates using 868MHz.
The actual range can be affected by the location of the equipment and the environment around it.
If you are experiencing a range or communication problem, continue to Part 2.
Part 2 - Check the neoHub Location
Before adding anything to boost the signal, check the location of the neoHub.
- Move the neoHub away from the main internet router as much as reasonably possible.
- Make sure the neoHub is not inside a server rack.
- Make sure the neoHub is not inside a metal cabinet.
- Try the neoFlo again.
If the communication problem remains, continue to Part 3.
Part 3 - Boosting the Signal Back to the neoHub
If you need to improve communication between the neoFlo and neoHub, use a neoPlug V2.
A neoPlug V1 cannot be used to boost the neoFlo signal back to the neoHub.
Position the neoPlug V2 between the neoFlo and neoHub to help extend the wireless network.
If the problem remains, continue to Part 4.
Part 4 - Boosting the Signal Back to the RF-Switch
If you need to improve communication between the neoFlo and RF-Switch receiver, you can use either:
- neoPlug V1
- neoPlug V2
These can be used to boost the communication back towards the RF-Switch.
What Happens Next
The neoFlo has a range of up to 70 metres, but its surroundings and the location of the equipment can affect wireless communication.
For communication back to the neoHub, use a neoPlug V2, not a neoPlug V1.
For communication back to the RF-Switch, a neoPlug V1 or neoPlug V2 can be used.
If the neoFlo is within range and will still not pair or communicate after a suitable booster has been fitted, the guidance in this article has no further steps. Please speak to an adviser who can assist further.
